William Lester Stevens N.A. (Am. 1888-1969) "Below the Mill"  Signed lower right.  Measures 30" by 36" (sight). OOC Titled verso in pencil on the stretcher and on the original Grand Central Art Gallery exhibition label and price tag. Original frame. Found recently in NH.

Bath, Maine built Ship "Samaritan" flying the house flag of Clark and Sewall.  Written at bottom margin: "Ship Samaritan Capt. I. Small Entering the Port of Malta 1856". (Watercolor on paper.  Measures 21 1/2" by 31 1/2" sight).  According to records at the Maine Maritime Museum, the Samaritan was built in 1854 and was the last ship built by Clark and Sewall.  She measured 191'  in length and weighed 1220 tons. The painting retained its original glass when being reframed.

   Recently discovered New York State Hepplewhite Pembroke Table in original surface. Nicely figured Mahogany with Satinwood and Ebony Inlays. An identical table is referenced as "BEST" on page 251 (lower left) of Albert Sack's "Fine Points of Furniture".  Table top measures  30 3/4" by 41 1/4". The table stands 27 3/4" tall. Original bailed brass pull on front and original faux brass on rear (missing bail). Missing some string inlay and the banded inlay near the feet. Otherwise complete and original. Ca. 1780.

 

 

Fine Connecticut Cherry Hepplewhite Six Drawer Tall Chest retaining its original surface and brass. Also having a nicely molded top, delicately inlaid skirt  and superbly sculptured flaring French feet. Primary wood is Cherry. Chestnut backboards with pine secondarys. Measures 56" tall and 40" wide. Recently found in Massachusetts.
