Five Miniature Bird Carvings by the noted Maine Carver Wendell Gilley (Am. 1904-1983) . Each of the birds are signed W.H. Gilley and titled on their bottoms. Four of the birds are in mint original condition. The Canada Goose has a tight separation at his neck. Wendell Gilley was a native of Southwest Harbor, Maine where his home and workshop currently house the Wendell Gilley Museum of Bird Carving. Gilley's highly esteemed and prolific carving career spanned better than 50 years and numbered over 10,000 pieces. These carvings are prime representatives of his extraordinary skills.
