The personal collection of the Historic Aviator and Airplane Manufacturer CLARENCE  CHAMBERLIN to include trophies, photos, medals and jewelry. The entire collection is to be sold in one lot. Clarence Chamberlin and his plane the "Miss Columbia" was the runner-up to Charles Lindgergh in the race to cross the Atlantic by flight. He arrived in Europe 15 days after Lindy's famous crossing. Chamberlin was the very first aviator to cross the Atlantic with a passenger (New York businessman Charles Levin) and made his historic landing in Germany. Amongst this grouping is a large Sterling Silver bowl presented to Chamberlin by the German government. It is so inscribed. Also in the grouping are many historic photos of Chamberlin that document his career from his early flying days through his days as a well know Aircraft designer and builder. Chamberlin is also know as the America's first aerial news reporter and gained notoriety for his coverage of news events for the NY Times. After an amazingly exciting life in Aviation, Chamberlin passed away in CT in 1976. For additional information on Chamberlin please visit a fine website http://www.earlyaviators.com that was developed and is maintained by Mr. Ralph Cooper. Many thanks to Mr. Cooper for his kind help and scholarly knowledge. Pictured here are few items from the collection.
