Timothy J. Gould, Licensed Maine Auctioneer,  Maine Auctioneer's License # AR1038

Gould Auction Company held a TWO DAY MARKET FRESH  Estate Auction at the Gardiner, Maine Sportsman’s Club on THURSDAY MARCH 31st and SATURDAY APRIL 2nd  2005.

Gould Auction Company is honored to have been chosen as auctioneers of  the personal property and antiques of the late Adelaide and Len Zanke of  Watch Hill, Westerly, Rhode Island. This entire 2 day sale, but for a handful of market fresh additions, consisted of the never before offered and totally market fresh collection that the Zankes assembled in over 50 years of combing the early attics, barns, cellars and homes of the South County Rhode Island area. Most of their collection was gathered from nearby homes and farms long before “Country” became popular. Adelaide was well known for her knowledge and keen eye for early antiques and folk art. When adding something to her collection, she was particularly discriminating when it came to condition. Her small shop in the back yard was a Mecca for the locals as well as tourists. She was born and raised in Westerly and was very active in her beloved hometown. Her husband Len, after playing minor league baseball for many years, became the New England scout for the New York Mets.  He enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia, golf clubs, toys and bottles. Together, they filled their home with these many treasures. Now, upon their passing Gould Auction Company is truly honored to have offered their superb collection.
