SOME LATE BUT GREAT ADDITIONS THAT ARRIVED Friday June 6. Please stay tuned for many more MARKET FRESH late additions to our upcoming June 19 auction!

A wonderfully dry painted, early DOUBLE SIDED game board with the backgammon side (having a raised middle partition) in colors of scarlet and black on a mustard yellow ground and its checker side being the same mustard ground with contrasting ochre squares. The board is accompanied by its original checkers which are housed in a neat early handled slide cover box....a SWELL combination that was found recently in the attic of an early NH home! Of square nail construction, along its applied beveled edge, the board measures 19  1/8" by 19  1/4". Untouched, original condition.

"Close of Day"  Bertha Menzler Peyton (American 1871-1947). Oil on artist board with North Shore Arts Association exhibition tag verso with price of $50. Signed l.l. and verso. Original frame. 9  1/2" by 13  1/2" (sight). Outstanding original condition. Recently discovered in a Cape Ann home.

A  superbly composed Hooked Rug in immaculate original condition and in a very pleasing size for hanging. 32  1/2" by 24  1/2".  Hand stitched rear border. Recently discovered in a Massachusetts home.

Fresh from an attic in Rockport, Massachusetts comes this outstanding Sanborn Family Register which is inscribed, in the artists hand at its base: "Drawn by Levi Sanborn  February 24th, 1823". Levi, a lifelong resident and Rockport stone cutter, was the grandson of Jeremiah Sanborn who was the founding father of SANBORNTON, NH and owner of Sanborn's Mill. As recorded on the register, Levi Sanborn and Lucy Tarr, a resident of Gloucester were married on Christmas Day in 1828. Their two children, also named Levi and Lucy are the only listed descendants appearing on the tree. Genealogical research reveals that their daughter Lucy Jane was also married on Christmas Day! The 1850 Rockport census reports that the entire family lived near one another other in Rockport. The elder Levi and his wife both died in Rockport. Watercolor on paper in original beveled frame.  13  1/2" by 9  1/2"(sight).
