charming architectural folk art painting of a large Hudson River
mansion showing considerable activity on its grounds and
shorefront. Recently discovered near Bangor, Maine, the painting
is surrounded by its crisp and original lemon gold frame. 14" by
20" (sight). Hudson River Valley, NY ca. 1870. Superb original
condition. |

This exquisitely painted example has a 6

Fine and
large 19th century Ship's Diorama with a heavily rigged sailing ship
cruising into a British port. Measures
15 1/2" tall and
26 1/2" wide. SUPERB original condition. Ca. 1870.
A remarkably
detailed patriotic calligraphic drawing from Belgrade, Maine. In bold
red, white and blue ink, its detail is superb. Central, Maine ca.
1880. Likely the featured plate of a Victorian era autograph album.
Measures 7" by 4" (sight).
A
boldy paint decorated, child's sized foot stool. Central Maine ca.
1850. Measures 8 3/4" wide 5 1/4" deep and 5 1/8" tall. Splendid
original condition.
One from an OUTSTANDING group of crooked knives, is
this visually stunning and highly developed, carved and painted
crooked knife with chip carved and paint decorated, layered hearts and
diamonds. Please note the Native
American "totem" style face (painted hearts for
eyes, layered hearts for nose and bottom heart its mouth) that
is clearly intended, when viewing the knife's handle, from the rear.
Its multi colored surface is wonderfully mellow yet striking. Ca.
1900. In fine original and untouched condition, it is a laudable
example of the form.

A
superior and early Sailing Ship's Cased Captain's Bar said to have
been from the English Packet Ship "LIVERPOOL". Provenance provided
to buyer. Please note the superb wrought iron hardware. All
bottles have open pontils and gold enamel decoration. Oak case
measures 15 5/8" wide 10 1/8" tall and 10 3/4" deep. Untouched
original surface and condition. Old literature and information
about the packet ship "Liverpool" is included. |
A
Choice Queen Anne Candle Stand with an outstanding shaped top and
delicate shaft. Old and possibly original surface. New England, ca.
1760.
Now THAT is Chromium Yellow!!! Maine Dome Top Box. 32"w, 12" h
and 14" deep. Although the paint is VERY old and the only paint the
box has had, it is not original to the box.The box is ca. 1820 and the
paint perhaps 20 or 30 years later. Excellent condition throughout.

Policeman Whirligig by Zenas Publicover of West Dublin, Lunenburg
County, NS. Ca. 1930. Policeman stands 15" tall. Original paint and
condition. Part of a fine selection of Canadian Folk sculpture, many
of which are pictured below.
Recently
discovered collection of 460 Stock Certificates to include 180 Maine
issues. Many interesting companies to include gold and silver mines,
aviation, movie making, golf courses, telephone companies, an
1854 Skowhegan (ME) Bridge stock certificate and many, many more.
Recently
found in the estate of a local attorney.
Circular
reverse painting on glass of the St. Lawrence River side wheel
steamship "HUDSON" by Captain P.
Carbonneau. (please reference Harper: "A People's Art" plate 94).
Surrounded by its original folk art "life preserver" frame. Quebec ca.
1870. 12" diameter.
