Found recently at the SILAS HASTINGS TAVERN, this early 19th century SURVEYOR'S COMPASS remain in its ORIGINAL DOVETAILED MAHOGANY CASE and is in SPLENDID ORIGINAL CONDITION. Signed on its 6  3/4" dial: "MICHAEL RUPP - NEW YORK".

Discovered in the Ball Room of the Silas Hastings Tavern, this original blue painted chest has a wonderfully "free hand" paint decorated under-lid. With its original wrought iron strap hinges and both of its original wrought iron "heart" handles, the chest is virtually undisturbed. Dovetailed pine construction with bead molded top. The chest measures 17 1/4'’ tall x 41 1/4'’ wide x 16'’ deep.

This classic "NEWTOWN" Connecticut Queen Anne Candle Stand is of fine proportion and composition. With its "signature" octagonal top which is blessed with extremely well defined chamfers at both the underside of its top as well as its beautifully faceted cleat, the stand exhibits the finest qualities of 18th century Newtown cabinetry. Measures 27'’ tall with its top measuring 16 ½'’ wide x 17''.

A MAJESTIC PAIR of SIGNED 18th century BOSTON ANDIRONS. Bearing the stamp of "J. DAVIS  BOSTON" this RARE "left and right" pair is in excellent condition! Discovered recently in western Massachusetts. Each measures 23" tall and 24  1/4" deep.

Boldly colored and superbly composed, this large, pleasing and EARLY HOOKED RUG is nicely mounted and ready to hang! Its "watermelon" border is of particular note and adds wonderful balance. Measures 28 ½'’ x 53'’. From a wonderful, long time collection of New England folk art.

Found recently in the attic of a coastal NH home, this OVERSIZED JAGGING WHEEL is in the figural nautical form of a SEA HORSE. Hand carved of maple, the tool remains in its original surface. Measuring 10  1/4" long, it is among the largest known examples. A wonderfully untouched piece of American Nautical folk art!

Found recently in an early attic in South Thomaston, Maine this fine half hull is of large size and remains in its original surface. Several pencil inscriptions appear on its back, all of which I have been unable to decipher. The hull is of superb craft and its "contrasting lift" construction gives it an added flare! Overall the mount measures 34'’ long x 8 ½'’ tall  with the hull measuring . A wonderfully untouched Maine half hull in superb condition!

Found recently in a home on the Massachusetts "North Shore" this exquisite and large "Whale End" hanging wall shelf is in outstanding original surface and immaculate condition. With its nicely stenciled decoration and superb cabinetry, the shelf is of a generous size, measuring 34'’ tall x 28'’ wide x 8 ½'’ deep. Dovetailed hardwood construction throughout. A superior example in every way!

A classic Maine painted checkerboard in superb tomato red, yellow and black, highlighted with superb "carriage" style striping. Untouched original condition throughout! Found "Downeast". Measures 15 3/4" by 15  7/8".

Discovered recently on Vinalhaven Island, Maine this remarkable 1908 Holy Bible Stand has wonderful folk art presence! The quality of its carvings along with its poignant reminders of the Christian faith squarely document the importance of where the early 20th century Family Bible was to rest in one's home. A paper label affixed to its underside, identifies the 1908 maker of the stand as MAYNARD ROBINSON. The stand is of white pine throughout with its original dark stain and iron candle stands which are attached at each of its "far" sides. An interesting and untouched piece with outstanding folk art carvings. Measures 29 ½'’ wide x 18'’ deep x 22'’ tall

"BARQUE E. FOSTER of MILBRIDGE   JOHN BROWN MASTER   PASSING GIBRALTAR   FEB'Y 23, 1861". Watercolor on paper attributed to HONORE PELLEGRIN (1793-1862). Original frame.

A rare American seated Rocking Horse in original paint and decoration. Found recent on Mt. Dessert Island, Maine. The horse measures 38  3/4'’ long  x  14 1/4'’  wide  x  21 1/2" at its tallest.

This painted early 19th century WOODEN CANDLE LANTERN was discovered in the Silas Hastings Tavern and remains in REMARKABLE UNTOUCHED CONDITION. Showing very little sign of use, its wooden handle was never painted and its interestingly scalloped candle socket holds an early and perhaps original candle! Its painted surface is pristine! A superior example in remarkable condition. It measures  9 3/4'’ tall x 5 ½'’ wide x 5 3/4'’ deep.

A wall hanging American Eagle by the noted Pennsylvania carver GEORGE STAPF. Measures 36" wing span and 9  1/2" at tallest. Early repaint.

"Dripping in Jewelry", the sitter in this fine, large 19th century American portrait is unidentified, as is its talented artist. OOC in superb and likely original lemon gold frame. Measures: (overall)  33 3/8'’ x 28 ½'’  and (sight) 29 ½'’ x 24 ½'’.

This superbly proportioned Queen Anne Candle Stand is crafted of cherry wood and remains in a superb and pleasingly honest surface of EARLY (and possibly original) varnish over its original red wash. Its wooden "pinned" construction and two board cherry top suggests either Vermont or New Hampshire origin. Beautifully balanced with a classic vertical stance, the stand was found in the upper Connecticut River Valley. A superior example that measures 26 3/4'’ tall. Its once square top has dried sufficiently to measure 16" x 15 3 /4'’.
