This large DELIGHTFULLY CARVED New England Wooden Wall Hanging “EAGLE WINGED” OWL was found in Massachusetts. Its original black/brown paint lies beneath a later coat of dull gold. The WINGSPAN measures 38” while the OWL BODY measures 11” tall.

                 

A FINE Group of AMERICAN CIVIL WAR items to include a clean 1862 U.S. SPRINGFIELD MUSKET; an Unusual Circular Embossed Tin Civil War “UNION FOREVER” Wall Hanging Decoration in Fine Original Paint; A Most Remarkable VT Civil War TINTYPE Photograph of the BLAKE TWINS of ROYALTON, VT which was taken at CAMP GRIFFIN, VA in 1862 ……and more!

RARE Large 1898 Floor Model Terrestial "Pedestal" Globe by A.K. JOHNSTON. With its bronze meridian, the globe sits in an adjustable cradle which is perched upon its original paw foot bronze base. Original throughout. Overall 31’’t x 24 ¾’’ diam. (18’’ globe diam.).

The DOUBLED SIDED "MEALS AT ALL HOURS" sign was found here in CENTRAL MAINE near SKOWHEGAN. In SUPERB, ORIGINAL SURFACE, the sign measures 44" long and 10 1/2" tall.

An eye dazzling 19th century STORE FRONT SIGN from DEXTER, MAINE! Each of its (3) raised and lettered sections are mounted separately on its back board and can be removed for individual display. Overall the sign measures 153 1/4" by 18 1/4". Superb original multi-colored surface with FINE "LEMON" gold leaf!

THIS RECENTLY DISCOVERED CONESTOGA WAGON BOX



was originally found by pioneering collectors from the Morristown, NJ area. The box was recently discovered here in Maine along with these REMARKABLE 18th CENTURY PENNSYLVANIA CUPBOARD DOOR HINGES!

CONESTOGA WAGON TOOL BOX  Measures 15 ¼’’t x 28 ¾’’w (overall). 11’’t x 19 ¼’’ x 9 ¼’’ (box only)

PA HINGES (to be sold by the individual pairs) RANGE in SIZE from 9 1/2" tall to 12" x 6"

A MOST REMARKABLE FOLK ART OIL PAINTING on OIL CLOTH which is done in a fascinating technique which we have been unable to identify. The EARLY (late 18th or early 19th century) work is superbly composed, having a multi-colored, stenciled border with its central "dreamy" fenced brick Federal period MANSION, being surrounded with wildly flowing, superbly colored "Tree of Life" landscaping. Its medium is oil paint which has been applied in the form tiny individual "dots" of paint which have been laid atop a black oil cloth. The backing is EARLY thin canvas or linen (see close-up photos at our website). Measures 23" x 27 1/2". Discovered in the same early Westport Point, Massachusetts home, as were the Prior-Hamblen portraits that are pictured in this ad.

MAINE country classic, this STENCIL PAINT DECORATED SCHOOLGIRL'S WORK BOX

   
                       

 has remarkable base coat of BOLD LISPSTICK RED PAINT with stencil decoration in BRONZE, GREEN and BLACK which shines through the prism of a Victorian coat of varnish that appears to be very easily "cleaned"! Upper Kennebec River Valley origin of New Portland or possibly Skowhegan, ca. 1830. Structurally superb and untouched! Measures 11 ½’’wide x 9 ¼’’deep x 6 1/8’’tall.


                        

A FINE 40 piece CHILDS DINNER SET in a rare MULTI-COLORED "FISHERS" pattern by CORK, EDGE & MALKIN of Burslem, England. The set includes both service and "place" pieces. Condition is excellent throughout!

 Circa 1840. Original throughout but for upholstery. Measures 33 ½’’t x 18 ¼’’w x 18’’d (18 ¼’’ seat height)

THE BEST LITTLE BIRDCAGE IN MAINE!
     
     

Its size alone is charming and when combined with its superb surface and fine overall composition, this painted birdcage stands proudly among a few of the finer examples of the form! Purchased at the 1998 auction sale of Betty Berdan collection, the cage measures a remarkably petite 11 ¼’’tall x 9 ½’’wide x 7’’deep.

                                                            
     

HANDS DOWN the FINEST complete 18th Century LIQUOR CASE we have handled in 40 years in the business. A superb Oak case with fine original wrought iron hardware, "rose head" nails and its COMPLETE ORIGINAL CONTENTS which is housed in an exquisite interior framework! All of its original gold enameled bottles are excellent, retaining their original stoppers and having polished pontils. Nested in their own separate framed "quarters" their matching hand blown gold enameled stemmed vessels "ring like a bell", have open pontils and are in perfect condition! And to top it off, even the original gold enameled and handled "jigger" survives in perfect condition as well! A truly remarkable survivor and a classy example as well!
